Welcome to Our Society
Founded in 1964, the Amador County Gem and Mineral Society, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organzation created to study mineralogy, geology, collect minerals, practice lapidary arts and promote interest and appreciation of the earth sciences and allied subjects.
We are a friendlly group of rock hounds and jewelry-making enthousiasts. Everyone is welcome to join. Youth ages 12 and up are welcome if accompanied by an adult. We meet in Sutter Creek, CA at our lapidary shop and jewelery crafting room. We ask for a small donation when using the Lapidary shop to help offset the costs of equipment maintenance. Our volunteers are always happy to share their skills and knowledge. Consider joining us for a fellowship with other like-minded people who appreciate mineralogy, geology and crafting.
Our Mission
The Amador Gem and Mineral Society is dedicated to fostering a passion for the earth sciences through the appreciation of gems, minerals, fossils, and rocks.
We aim to educate and inspire individuals of all ages by promoting responsible collecting, and encouraging community through shared knowledge, workshops, and community gatherings of fellow rock hounds. Our club serves as a welcoming space for hobbyists to connect, learn, and grow together in appreciation of the natural world.
